KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia, a global leader in the halal industry, expressed its intention to lead the global halal industry chain and promote progress at the World Halal Week 2018 forum, including plans to synchronize halal certification procedures and establish an internationally recognized committee.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Malaysia is committed to enhancing business facilitation and positioning Malaysia as an international reference centre for the global halal industry.
“We are committed to a continuously innovative and competitive halal industry that produces products and services that are not only suitable for industry needs but more importantly are halal toyyiban” (permissible for use or consumption according to Syariah standards).
As a leader in the global halal industry, Malaysia has developed a major global plan through the Malaysian Halal Council, one of which is to establish an International Halal Authority.
“We intend to bring together halal authorities around the world to implement the procedures involved in halal certification.”
