Halal logos are growing rapidly

According to market research firm Euromonitor, the use of halal labels is booming and is expected to grow by a quarter between now and 2020.halal标记

Demand for halal meat products is growing across the Asia-Pacific region. Asian meat processors such as Charoen Pokphand Group, Malvolia, and Sierad Produce have reassured Muslim consumers through clear halal labeling. Halal certification is also experiencing rapid growth.

Euromonitor's consumer and industry market research division released data earlier this week revealing that the halal market is expected to generate sales of $13 billion annually from 2015 to 2020.

Euromonitor estimates that the entire halal market is worth US$44 billion and is expected to reach US$58.3 billion within four years.

The UAE is expected to account for 27 million in the forecast period and is one of the fastest growing regions for halal certification.

Alan Rownan, an analyst at the company, pointed out that it is important to note that this forecast only applies to halal meat. Other meats may not have the same results.

“When analyzing specific categories, such as processed meats, it’s important to recognize that a smaller number of products may have unique characteristics that can cause larger fluctuations. This is the case with processed meats,” Rownan said.

The study looked at total sales of halal-certified meat products across 26 key global markets. However, the market has only a small number of players, meaning the forecasts are based on a small sample size, according to Rownan.

In addition, "demand for halal meat products is growing rapidly," Ewa Hudson, head of health at Euromonitor Group, said at a press conference this week. She attributed this to the growth of the Muslim population, which is expected to make up a quarter of the population by 2030.

While Halal labeling is expected to grow rapidly, Euromonitor expects a 6% decrease in the sale of kosher-certified meat due to concerns that kosher meat products are only available in Israel.
