Establishing a Halal Economy

The 6th World Halal Forum (WHF) provided another fundamental shift in the global Halal industry platform. Based on feedback from over 600 delegates from over 40 countries, several key announcements were made and delivered on April 4-5. This year's WHF shed light on the importance of connecting Halal finance with the Halal industry and integrating the Halal economy. This positive response is promising, enabling the two sectors to work closely together to elevate the Halal economy, with Halal finance as a key driver in this new global economy designed to serve 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide.

Abdalhamid Evans, Director General of the World Halal Forum, said: "This year's World Halal Forum marks a new milestone for the global halal food industry. We have begun discussing many issues related to the broader strategic growth of the halal market. We have begun to move towards a convergence of the halal and halal finance industries, opening up markets on both sides that will be larger than most people realize. This is thought leadership, and it is why the WHF is the world's foremost halal sector forum." The convergence of these two industries forms a powerful economic platform, built on shared beliefs and values, and can play a strategic role in shaping the global market for the next decade. Therefore, the theme of the WHF 2011 is: "Building a Halal Economy: The Power of Values in Global Markets."
