DUBAI — With growing demand for halal-certified food, airlines are encouraging global suppliers to develop new products and increase production capacity.
Globally, global consumption of halal food and lifestyle products is estimated to grow by 10.8% annually until 2019, and the Global Islamic Economy Report indicates that it will become a global industry worth US$3.7 trillion.
The halal food industry is estimated to grow from US$795 billion in 2014 to US$2.537 trillion in 2019, accounting for 21.2% of total global food spending.
