Türkiye: Halal standards agreement signed in Istanbul
2025-05-15
SMIIC and Türkiye's Association of Independent Industrialists and Businessmen (MUSIAD) signed two agreements on Thursday to enhance halal standardization capacity and visibility in the region.
The agreement was signed at MUSIAD's Istanbul headquarters in the presence of the heads of both institutions, Abdurrahman Kaan and Ihsan Ovut.
One agreement aims to organize joint activities to raise awareness in this area, while another aims to create a monitoring and traceability system for halal conformity assessment activities.
The agreement also aims to enable companies to adapt to halal standards at all stages of manufacturing products and providing services.
Khan said cleanliness and eating habits prescribed by halal standards are important for human health.
“Unfortunately, awareness about halal production and consumption is currently very low,” he said.
Referring to the coronavirus outbreak that surfaced in December last year and has claimed more than 3,200 lives globally, he said there were claims that the disease originated from wild animals.
He added that the importance of halal diet and halal slaughtering is now understood.
