2025-05-15
The cooperation agreement on halal food certification between China and Malaysia was reached at a trilateral meeting between the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM), Port Klang Free Zone and SM International Wholesale (China) Centre Sdn Bhd on Monday.
Hakimah binti Mohd Yusof, a senior official from JAKIM, said halal certification is not only a religious belief but also a guarantee of food safety and human health, adding that she hopes Muslim organizations in China and Malaysia can work together to achieve results.
Thousands of excellent halal food manufacturers in China have not been able to expand abroad due to regional factors and a lack of platforms, said Xia Baowen, operator of the Port Klang Free Zone.
Xia believes that the cooperation with JAKIM will bring new opportunities and develop the international halal food market.
