The 7th World Halal Forum opened in Kuala Lumpur in April. The global halal food market exceeded US$800 billion last year.
The 7th World Halal Forum will open at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia from April 2 to 3, 2012. The theme is "Cultivating a Universal Halal Lifestyle," appealing to both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers. As always, during the annual symposium, Malaysia will host the "Malaysian Halal Products Week," featuring a series of academic and cultural events related to halal products, including product exhibitions and trade fairs.
Hosted by the International Halal Industry (IHI), the forum covered all aspects of halal. Indeed, halal has transcended the confines of food and consumer goods, transcending religion, culture, and geography to encompass all aspects of human life. Forum founder Hajj Azmi said, "As a vast and largely untapped industry, the halal industry is rapidly developing based on a more comprehensive set of values, solidifying the two halal principles and universal halal values."
This conference, held for the seventh consecutive year, has seen new progress each year, becoming a significant event in the development of international Muslim capital. It serves as a platform for the exchange of information on global halal products and provides development direction and guidance to all practitioners. The new structure of the halal industry has formed a global civilization driven by a non-profit focus, establishing the International Halal Industry (IHI) Alliance, benefiting the entire world. Hasim, CEO of the IHI Alliance, told reporters, "Awareness of halal food is now expanding beyond the food industry to other sectors, including tourism. Increased halal-friendly attitudes have become a factor driving growth in the tourism and hotel industries."
The global halal food market is estimated to be worth over US$800 billion, and last year, the market value of Malaysian halal products was estimated to be over US$9.5 billion. The halal food trade market has been booming in recent years, and an increasing number of Chinese food companies are actively pursuing internationally recognized halal certification, reflecting the growing importance of food safety.
