The UAE will become the first country in the Middle East to regulate and control halal certificates and logos for products claiming to be halal, starting in 2014, a senior official from the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology said.
This claim makes the packaging part of the Halal specification, which also includes Halal certification for cosmetics, perfumes, clothing and accessories.
Mohammed said, "This is Sheikh·Muhammad·Book·Rashid·This project is part of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai a metropolis of the halal economy. Through this project, we can ensure that the halal products people consume are truly halal.”
