Malaysia's JAKIM has granted halal certification to the Bangladesh Islamic Foundation, opening up the Malaysian market for Bangladeshi halal food producers. According to a Bangladesh Islamic Foundation official, the Malaysian ministry's approval automatically includes the organization on the global list of organizations permitted to certify halal food. "This means the organization will be able to certify that food products comply with Islamic dietary laws and regulations in Bangladesh," the official said. The Bangladesh Islamic Foundation is an autonomous organization under the authority of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bangladesh, and its activities are based on the country's Islamic values ​​and ideals.

At least six Bangladeshi food manufacturers have applied for halal certification from the organization, which will review their applications over the next six months. "My understanding is that these companies have partnered with Malaysian importers to supply their food products into the Malaysian market," he said.
