On September 15, 2021, the "11th China (Sichuan)-South Asia and Southeast Asia Business Leaders Summit and the 3rd Sichuan Southward Opening International Cooperation Matchmaking Conference" was held in Chengdu. The summit was hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Chamber of Commerce, and the China-ASEAN Center (Center for Southeast Asian Nations), and co-organized by the Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Sichuan Provincial People's Government Office in Xiamen. CCPIT Vice President Ke Liangdong and Sichuan Provincial Party Committee Deputy Secretary Deng Xiaogang delivered speeches and jointly unveiled the "China-South Asia Business Council Sichuan Liaison Office." Ali Malik, President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce, Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of the CCC, and His Excellency Moin ul-Haq, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, the guest of honor, delivered online addresses. Huang Li, President of the Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), presided over the meeting. Over 300 representatives from 22 embassies and consulates, business associations, and trade and investment promotion agencies from 15 South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, including Pakistan, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore, as well as representatives from relevant Sichuan departments, research institutes, law firms, and other industry organizations and businesses attended the meeting both online and offline.

The summit took advantage of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and PakistanTaking advantage of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Pakistan was invited as the guest country. The summit will leverage various bilateral business cooperation mechanisms and platforms, hosting the "China-Pakistan Business Council Annual Meeting" during the summit. This will accelerate our province's integration into the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The Sichuan Liaison Office of the China-Pakistan Business Council will effectively leverage its role as a bridge and link, creating a key national platform for economic and trade cooperation with Pakistan and highlighting Sichuan's cutting-edge advantages and proactive role in promoting China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation. The event was attended by Mian Nasser, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry; Zhang Yi, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Chamber of International Commerce; Mushahid Hussain Sayeed, Chairman of the Pakistani Senate Defense Committee; Li Yong, Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan; Badar-ul-Zaman, Commercial Counselor of the Pakistani Embassy in China; and Lei Xuejie, Vice President of the Sichuan Council for the Promotion of International Trade, among other distinguished guests who delivered speeches. A photo exhibition on China-Pakistan cooperation and a Pakistani exhibition were also held alongside the summit. At the summit, Ambassador Moin expressed his commitment to actively pursuing development opportunities in the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Zone, pursuing mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as the digital economy and e-commerce, and working together to build a China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.

The summit has been further upgraded, extending the platform's functions from trade and investment promotion to culture, tourism, logistics, standardization and other fields, releasing the platform's comprehensive effects from multiple angles and in all directions. The summit has joined hands with the Sichuan Provincial Government Office in Xiamen to integrate the Third Sichuan Southward Opening International Cooperation Matchmaking Conference into it, further broadening Sichuan's southward opening cooperation channels and effectively promoting the integration of overseas Chinese businessmen.The summit also held supporting events such as the "China (Sichuan)-South Asia and Southeast Asian Countries Opportunities and Sichuan's Southward Opening Opportunities Investment Environment Recommendation Conference" and the "Pakistan Food Market Access Training Conference" to widely publicize the regional business community, promote regional economic and trade exchanges to a new level, open up new space for economic development, enhance the platform's international communication capabilities, and highlight its unique features to amplify its functional effects.
4. Highlight pragmatism and precise docking
In the early stage of the summit, in response to the specific needs of business associations in key countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia and export-oriented enterprises in our province, we promoted the Chengdu and Shanghai representative offices of the Malaysia External Trade and Investment Agency to conduct in-depth inspections of Mianyang Changhong Company and Qishiyuan Company, carry out investment and trade promotion activities, and use the summit platform to help companies solve problems and build bridges, effectively serving the local economic development.The unveiling ceremony of the "China-South Asia Business Council Sichuan Liaison Office" was held. The Liaison Office will deepen the province's integration into the Belt and Road Initiative, further promote economic and trade cooperation between the province and South Asia, and create new opportunities, building a broader platform for economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between bilateral enterprises. The summit will strengthen resource integration and co-create a platform with the Third Sichuan Southward Opening International Cooperation Matchmaking Conference. This will further leverage Fujian's advantages as a leading edge of opening up along my country's southeastern coastal region, its ports with international and domestic shipping routes, and its rich resources of overseas Chinese businessmen, further expanding the summit's international and domestic influence.
