Its main responsibility is to supervise the safety, quality and effectiveness of drugs, food, cosmetics, traditional medicines and medical devices nationwide.
Main functions
Review and licensing
Responsible for reviewing the registration and licensing of medicines, foods, cosmetics, traditional medicinal materials, supplements and other products in the Indonesian market.
Issue relevant regulations and technical guidelines to ensure that products entering the market meet Indonesian standards.
Market supervision
Carry out random inspections and quality supervision on relevant products on the market to prevent counterfeit and inferior products from entering the market.
If any illegal products are found, they will be recalled, removed from the shelves, and the relevant companies will be punished.
Regulation and standards management
Formulate safety standards and technical specifications for drugs and food.
Participate in cross-border or regional security cooperation and information exchange.
