Guidelines for the preparation and handling of halal food

1.    HALALSources of food

1.1animal

Animals can be divided into two categories, namely: 1)land animals2)aquatic

1.1.1land animals

a.All land animals are legal for consumption, with the following exceptions::

b.The animal was not slaughtered according to Halal law;

c.pig;

d.dog;

and.An animal with long, sharp teeth that can kill prey(Canines or tusks), such as tigers, bears, elephants, cats and monkeys;

f.Clawed or carnivorous birds;

g.Animals that are prohibited from being killed include rats, scorpions, snakes, crows, centipedes, etc.;

h.Animals that are prohibited from being hunted include ants, bees, and woodpeckers;

i.Creatures that the public considers dirty, such as lice and flies;

j.Animals that live on land and in water(amphibians), such as frogs and salamanders.

1.1.2aquatic

Aquatic animals are animals that live in water and cannot survive outside of water, such as fish. All aquatic animals are“HALAL”except those that are poisonous, toxic or injurious to health.

1.2plant

All types of plant products areHALALexcept those which are poisonous, toxic or injurious to health.

1.3drinks

All types of water and beverages are“HALAL”Drinks, but poisonous, intoxicating or injurious to health, and“unclean”Mixed drinks, such as alcoholic beverages, flavored wines, etc., are exceptions.

2.    Product storage, display and service

All stored, displayed, sold or supplied“HALAL”Products should be classified and labeled at each stage of each process.“HALAL”or legal labels to avoid being associated with impure or nonHALALmixing or cross contamination of items.

3.    Product processing

Processed food is considered as“HALALfood”:

a.This product or its ingredients do not contain any substance that is illegal under Halal law.HALALAnimals or animal ingredients or products not slaughtered in accordance with Islamic law;

b.This product does not contain anything that is considered unclean according to Halal law;

c.Products prepared, processed or manufactured using equipment and facilities that are free from contamination;

d.During its preparation, processing, storage or transportation, it should be kept away from(a)(b)or(c)Keep it completely separate from any other food prescribed in this section or anything else considered unclean by Islamic law.

4.    Hygiene and sanitation

Halal principles place great emphasis on hygiene, which includes personal hygiene, clothing, equipment, and every aspect of the workplace where food is processed or manufactured. Its purpose is to ensure that the food produced is wholesome and does not pose a risk to health.

Hygiene can be defined as the absence of unclean things, pollution and harmful bacteria.

All food preparation, processing, packaging, transportation and storage should comply with the hygiene requirements of the relevant authorities.
