From 2007 to 2009, the China (Qinghai) International Halal Food and Supplies Exhibition, with its slogans shifting from "Halal, Professional, Green, and Win-Win" to "Green, Organic, Plateau, and Ecological," has steadily gained global traction. Our entrepreneurs have also strived to reach the world. International buyers have arrived at our doorstep, and opportunities for industrial development are opening up. But how can we enter the international market? What else do we need for our halal products to reach the world?

Starting with certification, we will narrow the gap with the global halal market

During the few days at the exhibition, the reporter felt most deeply that our entrepreneurs were anxious and distressed. They were troubled about how to gain recognition for their high-quality products in the international market. "The quality of our beef and mutton has always been welcomed by Muslim countries in the Middle East, but we have never been able to export on a large scale because we have not yet fully integrated into the international certification system and obtained a formal pass to expand the production and export of products." An exhibitor from Qinghai Green Grassland Food Co., Ltd. felt deeply about this.

Indeed, for the halal food industry, international halal certification is the foundation of Sino-foreign cooperation. Currently, Chinese and foreign companies are paying close attention to whether Chinese halal food ingredients and products meet the halal certification and quality standards of Muslim countries. Representatives from the Qinghai Islamic Association stated that if we widely implement halal certification according to international halal food standards, it will greatly enhance the international competitiveness of our companies.

According to Malaysian experts attending the conference, Middle Eastern countries currently account for 80% of halal food imports, with Saudi Arabia and the UAE being particularly significant markets. Trade cooperation with these two countries would open up the Middle Eastern market for companies. However, these countries have very strict halal certification standards for products, with requirements ranging from product sourcing to logistics. Consequently, halal food and product manufacturers must pass certification testing to achieve or increase export volumes.

Green Halal is our "green card" to enter the international market

Green halal products are not only in demand by Muslims, but also enjoyed by people around the world. This was the most common sentiment reporters heard during the exhibition. Because green represents healthy vitality, and halal signifies purity, pollution-free, green, harmless, halal, and ecological, all products that embody health and safety are what we need and our vital advantage. From the outset of planning for the exhibition, Vice Governor Wang Lingjun prioritized the creation of a green, organic halal food base and the promotion of green ecological resources. Nan Wenkui, President of the Qinghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade, stated that Qinghai's location on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau nurtures green, organic, and ecological agricultural and animal husbandry products. This is a strength of our halal food industry and the reason we are confident in making this exhibition a leading halal food exhibition in China and one that has influence in the global halal food community. Halal food products from our province, based on green resources, are increasingly popular among Muslims both domestically and internationally. If our entrepreneurs want to expand and develop, they must, on top of expanding the scale of plateau ecological agriculture and animal husbandry production, expand and strengthen a number of green ecological agriculture and animal husbandry production with strong driving force, so that the green halal food industry can continue to grow and develop, thereby occupying a larger share of the international halal food market, and allowing the green economy, characterized by green production and green consumption, to drive Qinghai's economic development.
