Over the past seven years, the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) has successfully established extensive business opportunities and global networks within the halal industry. It has also become a key focus for global traders, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers to promote and launch their halal products and services. The 8th MIHAS (Malaysia International Halal Showcase) was held on April 6, 2011, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. This annual event showcased halal food and beverages, food products, traditional Chinese medicine, body care products, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, packaging, and banking and insurance products. Last year, MIHAS generated significant business opportunities, and 2011 remains ambitious.

Mihas2010 achieved amazing results and expects a large number of high-quality merchants in 2011

Dato Dzulkifli Mahmud, Senior Trade Commissioner of the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation, stated that last year, MIHAS achieved total sales of US$400 million, with over 32,000 traders from 81 countries participating. The top five buyers were palm oil products, processed foods and beverages, confectionery, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics and skincare products. The top ten countries by purchasing value were the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ukraine, Australia, Japan, Morocco, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, and South Africa. MIHAS 2011 aims to attract 500 buyers from over 50 countries, and the exhibition is looking forward to attracting even more high-quality exporters and participants. Malaysia's Halal Week also aims to develop and expand the global halal industry through business matching, trade exhibitions, forums, and research.

Dato Dzulkifli said Malaysia’s Halal certification has been internationally recognised and accepted, making it easier for Malaysian companies to establish business relationships with countries around the world.

Over 80% of global halal food trade is produced in non-Muslim countries in the West and East, which have become the largest exporters of halal food. China purchased a large number of halal products at last year's exhibition. We hope that more Chinese entrepreneurs will seize this opportunity and enter the halal market.
